Summer Camp Season: Prepare For A Head Lice Outbreak

summer-camp

We are all very excited for summer. School is out and we don’t have to worry about scolding our kids for getting bad grades or talking back to their teachers. Perhaps we get to spend some extra time with our kids or reward their good grades by sending them to summer camp with all their friends. Summer camp may be your child’s favorite place to be and unfortunately, it might also be a head louse’s favorite place to be because there are so many children. Children are often so caught up in the fun that they don’t take precautionary measures such as not getting too close to each other and not sharing accessories. Head lice spread through head-to-head contact or by sharing recently used items on the head that might have lice on them.

We Can Come To Summer Camp With You

A great way to prevent a major head lice outbreak at summer camp is by screening every head on the very first day of camp and treating all the children who have lice. That way the lice are gone, you don’t have to worry about lice spreading the entire time and your child can thoroughly enjoy the summer camp that you paid for. If you’re a parent and think this sounds like great idea, give us a call to coordinate. We’d be happy to treat head lice at your summer camp.

Be Informed

As a parent, it’s important to be informed about head lice and to talk to the summer camp staff and nurse to understand their head lice protocols and policies. It’s important to also know if they know how to identity lice and what would happen if there was an outbreak in the middle of the week.

We hope your child have an unforgettable time at summer camp. It’s our hope that you don’t even have to deal with head lice, but if you do, give us a call.
